Parker Superchrome Ink
Oh hi! It’s me, the delectable Tuppence again. It’s been a very busy day and it’s time for a nap! Deb was writing a letter with her dip pen and those little nibs are ideal for chasing around the floor. There are now several in every corner. The main reason I took this job of […] read more

Types of Pens: How to Pick a Pen with the Right Ink
Thereβs more to picking a pen than tip size and looks. The ink inside a pen is what makes it write better on certain papers than others, gives it waterproofness or a quick drying time, or infuses your writing with vivid color. Although the design of the pen tip has a lot to do with how smoothly a pen writes, the ink that flows from the... read more

More On Ink
My husband tells me that in 1957 when he and his fellow-pupils were issued with dip pens the big bottle the teacher filled their inkwells from was Stephens Blue/Black. Later, when there were still shops that sold ink there was a choice: Parker Quink Blue or Parker Quink Black. Since then there has been an […] read more

REVIEW: PILOT CAPLESS LS FOUNTAIN PEN
For as long as I can remember, the Pilot Capless and I have had quite a love-hate relationship. They're fantastic pens, bombproof, great writers - sure! But, as I highlighted in my re-review of the Capless, none of the Caplesses (Caplessi?) that have gone through my hands managed to captivate me. So I sold mine a long time ago, and never really looked back... Until Pilot released the Capless LS!While... read more

what’s in my bag #25: my work backpack by sweaty betty
The majority of my work days, I carry this Sweaty Betty quilted backpack. It's pretty functional and quite well built and considering that it's on the pricier end for a backpack, I would hope so! I also really like the two pockets at the side. On rainy days, one side is useful for an umbrella and the other side usually has a folded up tote bag. Contents (top left, clockwise):... read more

REVIEW: WANCHER PRIMO FOUNTAIN PEN
I'd like to say the Wancher Primo is a strange, unusual pen that I didn't see coming whatsoever. But then again, Wancher has never shied away from trying new things and stepping out of their comfort zone - like competitively priced Urushi with the Dream Pen (reviewed HERE), or the unique bakelite (!) Seven Treasures fountain pens (reviewed HERE). The Japanese brand has also dabbled in creating a titanium pen before (with the Dream Pen Ti), but... read more

Army & Navy Stores, 1907
No shop or store today can equal the stationery stock of the Army & Navy stores in 1907. They had pens, of course, and things like polished brass inkwells in the form of crabs and lobsters that still appear in auctions today. One expects folding writing slopes, but perhaps not in leather rather than in […] read more
